Put Them In, Coach!

Our Game is a fictional work about the first woman to play baseball for a professional MLB franchise. Girls playing baseball – crazy idea?  Sure, everyone has heard about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League during World War 2 from A League of Their Own.  But today? No way. After all, boys play baseball and girls play softball.  It’s just the way things are. Not anymore!

Girls baseball is here and it’s growing. According to Baseball For All, a non-profit organization that supports girls baseball (https://baseballforall.com/), over 100,000 girls in the US play youth baseball.  However, just over 1,000 girls go on to play high school baseball. The good news is that an increasing number of high schools and colleges are fielding women’s baseball teams.

Baseball is our nation’s national pastime. It is a sport, a game, a history, a pageantry, and a feeling that all Americans should be encouraged to enjoy.  Our Game was written to hopefully embolden the idea that girls who are interested should not only play baseball as youths and in high school and college, but also to develop the skills necessary to one day play major league baseball. This idea, this movement, will allow baseball to truly be the national pastime for everyone.  It will allow baseball to fully circle the bases and come home.

You can join this movement by coaching, mentoring, and supporting girls baseball around the US.

It’s time.  Put them in, coach! (https://youtu.be/pEl8HCZgmtk)
